Our Rich History
Established in 2013 by Tara Hood as a space for Cantabrians to experience the luxury of feeling pampered after years of post-quake disruption. The opulence of the Victorian-style Tannery in Woolston was the perfect home for Beauty at the Tannery for nearly a decade.
Tara is excited to take her spa destination concept to the next level at The Vale. “We love providing a tranquil, welcoming environment where people can escape from everyday life and emerge feeling renewed, beautiful and confident.”
Opening just four days prior to Christmas in 2013, the Beauty at the Tannery dream continues to grow and evolve into Beauty at The Vale.

Nestled in the heart of Merivale in Christchurch comes the transformation of this historic homestead into a sanctuary for wellness, vitality, and connection. and our new home
The Vale is a place where the community can flourish, and wellness is celebrated. Beauty At The Vale is the anchor tenant, alongside other revolving wellness clinics under the one roof
The building, constructed in 1891, is rich with historic stories of revitalisation and empowerment that we’re proud to continue. It was also formerly the birthplace of Rangi Ruru School.
Future plans include transforming the neighbouring building into a multi-use event space with boutique accommodation.
